Journeys, processes and sensory interactions connecting humans to the natural landscape forms an integral part of my work. I am engaged with connecting the human body with wild landscape, showing how the two are not separate but symbiotic. My art explores the intricate relationships between internal and external, microcosm and macrocosm, growth and decay, birth and burial. As a result seasons and cyclic time have frequently influenced my choice of materials and subject matter. Textures, interlinking patterns and raw materials invite a tactile response, merging a more creaturely human element into the art. Metamorphosis has become a recurring theme, where I have intuitively been using symbolic imagery based upon cocoons and fungi. Imagery is developed using a combination of drawing, performance and photography, then transforming this imagery through printmaking. These prints can change the ways in which the familiar is viewed, presenting a subtle ambiguity. The flat prints contrast and complement the sculptural forms and installation work, that function on a more tactile level.
